I have a 1968 that has a 289 engine. What is the best kind of engine stand? Is the cradle kind or the rotating kind the best. What are things I should look for when purchasing one? I want to pull the motor and transmission within the next few weeks. Could also use advice on pulling the transmission. Would a good floor jack help with the process or should I get one of those transmission jacks?
Thanks
The one that holds a Kaase Boss 9 engine?
Not sure, is it going to used to work on the engine or storage?
I will be using the stand to work on the engine. However, it will need to hold it until the body work has been done. I have to save up some funds before working over the engine. Since I am a newbie at this, I have no idea what a Kaase Boss 9 engine is. Sorry.
I would say an engine stand is what you need. You can convert a manual to one that uses a drill to turn it over.
As for the Boss 9: http://www.jonkaaseracingengines.com/html/jon_kaase_custom_built_boss_nine_engines.html
If you have a full size floor jack with a removable pad, they do make a transmission adaptor that drops on.

All I ever use is a floor jack and a good piece of wood to R&R transmissions. I don’t even swap the plate.
Engine stand is very handy for all kinds of engine work, painting, storage…

Get a good quality stand with 1000 lbs. capacity and read the instructions that come with it. That’s a 1968 302 in photo, it weighs about 460 with all its parts.
