Question: bracket, front license plate

Hi everyone, I have a 1969 Cougar XR7 convertible. Does the bracket for the front license plate only attach to the front valance/stone deflector with two bolting the existing holes? I don’t see where there is any other place to fasten the bracket to the car. Am I missing something?

correct, two fasteners only directly to the lower valance.

Thank you kind sir

How do you guys think it would look without the bracket. My ‘70 is getting painted this Spring. Thinking of deleting the holes in the valence. Thoughts?

Check with your States requirements. Most States require a front license plate be installed. Smile, it is partially for the traffic cameras.

Kansas does not require front tags and I ran my original 70 without a front bracket. It was a lot cleaner look. Current car has it’s 1970 California blue plate up front. But yeah, with all the traffic cameras now, they have considered requiring front plates here too. So you might end up needing those valence holes again someday.

Still don’t know how this has been allowed to fly. You ticket a driver not a vehicle and it has to be seen.

Oh, you can be seen.

Ohio just switched to a no front plate law.

On your 70, I’d like the smoother look without it. So I’d fill the holes and smooth it out.

On some of the newer systems you can. Not on the older ones. Even if you were wearing a grinch costume.
