If my fuel pump gasket is bad would it leak oil? If not, does anyone know what the torque specs for the oil pan bolts are? I will install a new pan gasket at next oil change, any recommendations on gasket brand?
I’m also leaking power steering fluid. Do you think a cylinder rebuild kit lke this
The Ebay kit shown is a dust boot and frame mount bushings for the power steering cylinder/ram…the cylinder if leaking would need to be replaced…only serviceable with specialty tools. The control valve though is rebuildable as long as the ball stud extension is within specs. Before replacing the pan or pump gaskets…would recommend a good pressure washing to pin down the actual source of the leaks…there is a lot of fluid under there and it’s difficult to recognize exactly what the problem is.
Actually, they do sell an (outer) seal kit for the cylinder, put one in mine during Isabel’s resto. You just cannot do anything with the insides of the ram without cutting it apart. Don’t think there are people doing that but I could be wrong, new only I believe.
On the pressure washing, exactly my thoughts. Clean it up well and then look for where leakage first appears subsequently.
My old fuel pump spat oil from the small hole on the topside. I replaced it and the problem stopped. Cleaned up the old oil residue and all looks good now.
I went to the car wash to day to degrease my cat and the guy came out and asked what I was doing. I said, I’m degreasing my engine. He said, Oh, I thought you were changing your oil. …I said, No, nothing like that. He said, Well you can’t be working on your car in here. I said, Well I can’t degrease my engine without a pressure washer…I wanted to be like
