The previous owner set in the radio but never hooked up the wiring. I’m guessing it’s not the factory one but hoping I can get it to work.
I have printed out the schematics but I’ve never been great with electrical…. As you can see there’s a few bare wires tucked away and the only ones obvious to me are the antenna and the black pair from the radio to the black pair for the dash speaker.
in the last photo, there’s a 2 male molded connector with yellow/black (radio power) and blue/red (radio lamp) that is the plug coming from the radio. There should be a mate nearby with two female plugs with the same wire colors: that plug is the input into the factory radio.
That one hanging goes to the dash speaker with same colored wires from the radio so I assumed those went together? It’s the other 2 plug(I assume power) I can’t find behind the dash to plug into the radio
Thank you. That’s what I was assuming and after another hour of looking I couldn’t find any matching colors or a 2 female plug besides the black and black/green 2 plug lead going to the dash speaker.
Some where under the dash is a plug with a yellow wire (switched 12 volts) and a light blue wire with red tracer (headlamp switch power for the radio backlighting). Both are female, and that’s the connector for your radio.
Most of the time when an aftermarket radio is installed they cut the plug off and then tie into the wires. Look for two loose wires with the right color codes. You may find them wadded up or tied up some where since they are both hot and easy to short out.
That’s what I wasn’t hoping to hear but makes sense over the years. Last owner did the led sequential tail light upgrade so maybe that’s when things got moved around
Finally got around to the radio working. I stumbled across the factory female plug that somehow hid from me in the same areas I checked multiple times. Now I can put a modern period looking system on the list.
