Ragcat II Has Been Sold

Due to a pending move, and the fact that getting anything done to her had pretty much come to a dead stand still, I sold her a few weeks ago. She was coming along nicely, albeit slowly, but ran into nightmares trying to wire the 5.0. My friend helping me, although he would not admit it, was stumped and, I think, had just grown weary of messing with it. Because of upcoming expenses and so forth I made the decision to list in CL with the intentions of posting here as well. I feel she went to a great home though. The second day after listing, I got multiple e-mails from several interested parties, all wanting more information, except for one, which I initially thought was a hoax/scam. That first e-mail simply asked if I wanted to trade for a (forget the model) Polaris 4-wheeler. Started not to even reply but did anyway, stating no not interested. 2nd e-mail asked if I would take $xxxx for it, an amount that was $1000 less than asking. Replied stating no, that the ‘least’ I could do was an amount ½ way between the 2. From there real questions, e-mails, and even texts with pictures, started flowing, and before I knew it this real nice cop from Maryland, who sent me pictures of a Mustang he had done and a ‘big boat’ Merc ‘vert he had owned, was on his way with a trailer to purchase Ragcat II, sight unseen. He had even given her a name, before he had ever seen her—‘Showstopper’. Since getting her, he has updated periodically with plans and progress. He found a ’70 ‘vert on the internet he wants to ‘copy’:

Although not Ragcat II anymore, I am happy and know she is where she will be returned to her glory, driven and appreciated. I have invited him to join the forums. I guess time will tell…

In the mean time, I have the as yet unnamed ’71 I recently purchased and hope to find the time, and with the help of a friend, get the motor back together and drive. The block is on a stand, has passed initial inspections, and reconstruction has began. Hopefully updates and pics of my ‘new’ cat on the road are forthcoming soon……

Hopefully he’ll come hang out here a bit and let us watch the completion of “showstoppah” there in Maryland. :dogpile:

Glad you get to focus on the 71 now, Chuck. :beerchug:

Congrats on the sale Chuck if that’s what you really wanted. Don’t forget to show us the progress on the '71.

Hes got good taste if he wants to copy Zolis car. What does the 71 need?

She came complete with a freshly bored .030 block and all the new pistons, reworked heads etc and everything (all gaskets and so forth) to put it back together. Just have to reassemble, drop it in the car, do the necessary things a car needs that has been sitting 8 years (in a garage), and drive. On initially looking at the car I thought it might need floor pans. I was 1/2 right. the passenger side will need to be replaced. Everything else including trunk drop offs look good. You can see it here: http://www.classiccougarcommunity.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=972 Wasn’t what I really wanted Al, but what can I say. Life moves on. Part of the reasons are here: http://www.classiccougarcommunity.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1008 '70 has always been my favorite and I am a die hard 'vert guy, but I must admit, the '71 is growing on me. Even the original paint which I have never liked before. It either has something to do with it is mine or possibly an age thing… LOL!!!

Good luck to you Ragcat. What we do for our children? I have friends that have kids pursuing BA’'s and further education and when they achieve their goal want to move into an entirely different direction. The new age of thinking is to learn and explore as many avenues as possible before settling on a job situation. My son is no different, after spending 5 years pursuing a music education degree he wanted a degree in audio. Now he is putting in 2 more years to become an audio specialist. With your help your daughter will achieve her dreams and have a full life. My son has accomplished every goal that he has set and with my [wife and myself] help he’ll do well with this one.
Good luck again! SalD cougar geek

Chuck

Just glue a convertible top on the 71 and make noises like a top motor when you stop at lights. The grandkids don’t like riding in the back of a vert anyway as it is too windy

Good luck with the move.

BTW - still can’t find a decent set of Paseo doortrims

LOL!! Leon. Don’t think I haven’t thought of it! Don’t know about the grandkids not liking the 'vert yet, but I can vouch as to my daughters having hated it…Can’t believe you still remember the Paseo doors…LOL!!
Thanks all for your comments!!
