Ragcat II

First of all: Thank You Bill for providing this forum. I have a feeling it will be a popular one!!

Not a lot to show, but will post a few pictures over the next few days as I get time.

As she sits right now:

Tail lights as they looked when I took them off the car:

and how they look now:

As I have stated before, I am not real big on chrome. The following picture is one of the tailights and one of my A pillar moldings painted how I’m thinking of painting all trim molding. The plan right now will have Ragcat II a gray somewhere between the gray of the trim and the black of the taillights. Opinions welcome…I can take it! :open_mouth:

What did you use on the tail lights, they look nice.

I like the grey on the trim. Not sure how it would go on a big expanse like the grille though

Z- Of course I did the cleaning, sanding etc. on pitted areas and so forth. Wasn’t able to get all the pitted ares to my satisfaction, but acceptable for now. After all that, I use something called BULLDOG Adhesion Promoter made by W.M. Barr & Co. I have used it in the past and seems to do well in helping paint stay on chrome parts. The can I have right now I have had for a while and have no clue where I got it from. After that I primed then painted with Rustoleum Satin Black followed with Rustoleum can Black Night Metallic. After several coats of this combination I finished up with clear. They have been sitting a couple of months but seem to clean up pretty nicely. The trim piece in the picture was painted with Rustoleum Metallic Charcoal. Yes, I’m a “rattle can guy”.

Leon- Not doing the grill in the charcoal. It is painted with the same combination as the taillights. Just trying to decide rather or not to maybe do the charcoal treatment on the fins that would normally be chrome. Don’t know yet what I will do with the bumpers. Am thinking body color like the original ragcat was.

Thanks
Chuck

These will be the wheels going on Rag II. Will probably paint the center the charcoal, but leave the rings chrome:

Gee, those wheels look familiar…NICE choice!!!

Got too good a deal on wheel/tires with 500 miles on them from droptopcat70 over at MC. Couldn’t pass them up.

Besides, his ragcat was always one of my favorites over there and I loved how they looked on his:

I like the gray. The rims will look great in charcoal.
Steven

Got my wheels today!!!

Although not a cougar, really love the center cap:

glad to see you made the jump over to here too, i actually was wondering how your car is coming . greys, metallics? i have a few thoughts in mind ill post them up when i find them . all ford colors from the last 6-7 years very nice colors

Yeah. I mainly just posted the thread over there yesterday just to let Pat know how much I appreciated him… Sounds good on the color samples! I’ll be watching for them!! Now that I’ve got the wheels, I’m even thinking maybe a Pearl White now. Not normally a white car guy, but, for whatever reason, always really liked how Pat’s car looked. I’m so confused!!! LOL!! Of course, every time a bright yellow car goes by… :astonished:

A pic of the original Ragcat fo those who don’t get the ‘yellow car’ reference:

Thanks man. You are still just as ready to help as I remember you being on MCN. It’s funny because as I was looking at the pics, I thought “that is the best of this bunch” as I saw pic #3. Then I read your post as to your favorite…
Thanks
Chuck
