What is the best way to re-attach the rear quarter chrome moldings. The “J” Moldings. I’ve tried both super stegnth double side tape and silicon adhesive. But they pull up after rolling the window up and down a few times.
This is what you want. Make sure you get it right the first time as it is permanent.
Don, must not have read this carefully. The quarter window trim sits on top of a piece of stainless that is attached to the outer body panel by two or three screws. This is the same piece that the rubber window seal is attached to. The screws go in horizontally through the stainless piece. The chrome trim was originally attached to the stainless pieces with two peened studs on the bottom side. Those studs have failed on many cars and it is not uncommon to find that some one has driven a screw through the trim to hold the front down. The best way to attach the trim to the stainless is to use 3M VHB tape. They use this stuff to hold entire body panels on new cars.
