I am preparing to replace the rear shocks next weekend and need to remove the rear seat to get to the access holes. The right side of my seats lifts but my left seems ‘locked down’. Is there a technique to remove the bottom of the seat successfully? I thought it would just lift up but I don’t want to pull any more and damage the seat if I am missing something…
They just lift up. Sometimes you got to give a little force as they have little tabs. FYI I changed the shocks on Pole Cat earlier this year and did not pull back seat. No problems.
Yeah, I know I can access back shocks from the trunk. but the positioning and angle makes it easier from the rear seat. Knowing my luck, I would crawl into the trunk and the lid would close on me… Not a bad way to go I guess.
Put some force on the seat bottom toward the back of the car and then lift up. The hold-down brackets have a “lip” of sorts that the rods of the seat frame pop behind when the seat is installed. Pushing back and then lifting up should free the rods from the lip. Hope this helps.
