Any shock (air or spring) that increases the ride height will rapidly cause the floor pan to fail. You need to adjust ride height by having the rear springs arched to the correct level. Then have the alignment done.
Replacing floor pans is expensive. You don’t want to do that.
I’ll look into to that
I have been using the air shocks to lift my car for 15 years. Maybe a little more. And I totally understand and nor do I want to use them. I just took a look at the underside of my car where the shocks pass through the floor of the car. It looks like brand new. Absolutely no sign of any manipulation of the metal.
When it’s the budget, I will bug coil over shocks
What is the tallest you can go for shackles?
The GT-E I sold to Matt Slay had the floor pan ruined by air shocks. I didn’t take any pictures but it had a Gabriel Hi-Jackers sticker on the back window, Matt had to pay to have the rear section of the floor pan replaced.
Sorry to hear that.
Maybe if I put taller shackles that will give me my desired ride height
Longer shackles result in evil handling. The right way would be to have the springs re - arched to the desired ride height.
Longer shackles also screw up drive line ujoint angles
They’re brand new. 5 leaf
What’s worse. Air shocks ruining the floor or a u joint
Both…the pics show a reasonable ride height
Bite the bullet and have your springs rearched yo the height you desire
Thank you guys for all of your opinions. I really do appreciate them.
