I just completed removing all the trim and the vinyl except for the forward most nut holding the trim that covers the vinyl between the quarter window and the trunk. I removed the rear seat and panel but still cannot see where to access the nut. Any suggestions?
If I’m understanding your question correctly, you’re trying to get at the forward-most nut that holds the vinyl roof side trim in place. If that’s correct, I believe you’ll need to reach inside the C-pillar behind the headliner to locate it. You may not be able to see it without pulling back the headliner. It’s been a while since I removed that trim (6 years!) so my memory could be faulty.
Would removing the Sail Panel provide the access? Cannot see how the headliner would provide access? I will give it a try tomorrow. Spent the day scraping old contact cement off the roof!!!
The headliner extends down the C-pillar (or sail panel). The nut is behind there, as I recall.
I found them! You have to remove the sail panel and there are access holes for the first two nuts holding te trim. The headliner stays put. Thank you for the help.
I read on another thread just recently (that I can’t seem to find now) that there are also SS trim pieces along the Drip rails that are easily destroyed if removed wrong. My restored G doesn’t have these and I’ve never seen them on a restored Cougar. Started tearing into the dis-assembly of my parts car and it still has these along with the metal trim pieces along the bottom as mentioned above.
What is the correct way to remove them??

Thanks Don. I’ll post another pic after its off.
It sure would be nice if someone would reproduce this peice. Almost everyone could use a set. I am assuming Mustangs have the same thing.
I’ve had many vinyl roof cars and haven’t seen this trim. Was it used when replacing a vinyl roof and not wanting to take off the drip rail?
My understanding is that this piece of trim was installed by the factory and almost always thrown out when the roof was replaced. They are easily damaged. Don has a listing for them under 68 roof parts but they show as out of stock.
Here’s the link but I can’t get the WCCC website to open it for me??

If anyone needs them I do have an extra pair and I believe one other extra side, I will need to relook at what I have to be sure of the single one though.
