Probably a dumb question… I want to remove the engine belt, but the only easily accessible bolts appear to be the tension pulley adjustment bolt up top and likewise the smog pump adjustment bolt. The mounting bolt from for the pump seems to be behind the pulley? Wouldn’t I need to loosen that? How is this supposed to work?
Normally you would just loosen the AC adjuster to remove the belt. The smog pump can be loosened with an open end wrench on the main bolt but normally that isn’t necessary.
Delayed thanks,@Royce. I did end up having to loosen the pump; the tensioner pulley was adding very little deflection to the belt. Perhaps whoever put it on used a slightly too small belt? In any case, got it off.
