Removing glue in door glass

Can anyone tell me if the glued in door glass on a 69’ can be removed from the door without cutting the glue? If so, is there a trick to getting it out with the track sill glued on?

You will need to unscrew/unbolt the tracks from the window brackets. The the brackets can stay glued to the glass and I would leave them alone if they’re not loose. If I remember, the window comes out the rear of the door.

Sometimes it is just easier to cut the brackets off the glass

You need to unbolt the U shaped brackets that wrap around the vertical tubes from the glued on bracket. Then if you look at the top opening that the glass comes up through you will see that there are some areas that are tighter to the outer door skin in some places. You need to feed the glued on brackets up through the areas that are wider. It takes just a little wiggling but it is really not very hard at all.

I’ve done the same on my 69. But after removing the glass with the brackets still glued on, I noticed the old glue was rock hard and cracked so I re-glued them anyway. You will have to remove the outer wheaterstrip/moulding/trim to have enough room to pass I believe, but I replaced that aswell while I was at it.

Thanks for each of the replies. Guess I’ll try taking out with the glue in place and go from there.
Thanks again!

When I did my 67, I had to roll the window mechanism all the way down after I got the window unbolted. The added clearance helped when I had to rotate the glass a bit to get it out.
