I have never removed a steering wheel. I am needing a little guidance as I could not find anything in the archives and only a few Mustang videos.
I have the center pad off fine. I got the main center 15/16ths nut off but the puller I got from O’Reiley’s Auto didn’t seem to have the correct bolts. I know there are two bolts I need to screw in and then the center one to pull it. I guess knowing the thread size for the two bolts would be helpful. I am also not sure what to do about the horn rim and parts or if I need to take any caution to not break something on that. Thanks for the help.
If everything is factory 68 for the horn ring push down a little on the center and then turn counter clockwise. The ring will pop right off. You are correct on needing 2 bolts to hold the puller and then a center one that actually will remove the wheel. I do not know the bolt size but I can tell you that they are not special bolts, just regular standard bolts you can pick up at any hardware store.

Randy, thanks. I probably didn’t provide enough info. I have the semi circle thin horn rim style different from the mustang center push horn.
I will try a few other bolts. Maybe it is the thread size.
Randy’s instruction are correct for your horn.
I played around with the bolts again and realized it must be the ones that came in the pulled set I got and that they were both slightly bent and the threads pretty worn but managed to get them in enough to get the pulled to work and got the steering wheel off.
I plan to replace the horn run as it is pretty pitted.
Everything else looks fine except a little dirty in there.
