Replacement window weather stripping

I bought the window seal replacement kit from WCCC and have re-installed the windows. The outer rubber seals seems pretty loose and doesn’t make great contact with the window. Have others encountered this problem? Should the inner seal and door card push it in better?

What year model? Also what’s the brand of weather stripping? Reason I ask is I have a 67 and put the felts (difficult to install) and rubber weather strips on my doors years ago. I used some weather strip adhesive in addition the the clips pre attached to weather strips themselves and this took some play out of them. Also, make sure you did not bend the metal slots the weather strip clips into…if so straighten holes and reinstall. I believe
The brand I used was RePops…

I just did this on a 69 XR7 but I have not installed the door panels yet. I have a small gap on the outside rubber but feel it will disappear when they are installed. The rubber is tight and strait though. But mine attaches to the trim on top of the door. What year is your car?

With the window roller all the way up the seal should be tight to the bottom of the window frame. With the window half way up you will have a gap between the window and seal especially on a 67-68 with the full frame window.

Hi, sorry for the slow response. I have a 1967. It’s super tight on the passenger side but pretty loose on the driver side. I got everything from WCCC. It’s the outer one I’m concerned about. The inside ones I’ve drilled out the rivets and drilled holes in the new weather stripping to match the holes in the metal. I then used small flat heads that are buried in the felt and nuts on the inside. Additionally, will this cause interference or mis-align the panels?
