Replacing the headlight Vacuum actuators.

having pulled the trigger on the new electric headlight openers that was advertised on this board time has come to remove the old actuators and vac lines. Is this stuff of any value to anyone or just fit for the trash? Both actuators work be it a bit slow.

Cheers

The actuators may have some core value, but a lot depends on their physical and operational condition. If they hold vacuum, they are worth a bit more than if they are just good as rebuild-able cores.

If they hold vacuum and work they should be worth a few hundred dollars, no? Doesn’t WCCC charge a few hundred dollars to rebuild non-functioning cores? I would have thought an original, functional system would be worth at least as much as a remanufactured one, but I don’t really know.

I kept my vacuum motors and all the vacuum lines associated with the headlights, when I replaced my setup with blue68’s electronic kit, and figure I can either sell the motors to WCCC as cores or just keep em with the parts I’ve pulled off the car. They’ll never go back in, not on my watch anyway. Loving that electronic kit, and having headlight doors that both open at the same speed and have no negative impact on my engine performance.

I would be happy to sell you a quantity of these if you really believe that. :poke:

The WCCC rebuilds are better than OEM and you can’t tell them apart from the outside. The cores are worth $15 cash or $45 as a core exchange. If they still function well you can get $40-50 a piece on ebay.

Thank you guys, not worth it then by the going rates, in the skip they will go.

Wow that’s crazy. Thought I remembered the core exchange value being higher than that. Guess I’ll just throw mine in a box of junk that I would pass on to the new owner if I ever was so screwed that I had to sell my cat!
