Restoring Door Panels & Gears on 1968 XR-7

Looking for a little help or advice. I watched Don Rush’s great video on door panel board replacement and am in the midst of completing those repairs. I plan on doing further maintenance on my doors as needed(including replacing the door bushings) before i reattach the panels. My Cougar has been exposed to a lot of humidity (previous owner lived in Hawaii). I am assuming hardly any maintenance has been performed. I am new to this type of work and would greatly appreciate any advice on what steps I should take before moving on to the next area. Please feel free to be as simple as possible( I will not be offended, and probably need it). I am excited to be a part of this great community.

Welcome Doc,

My 2cents…I would lube the window tracks and gear while you have the door panel off. Also lube the door latch mechanisms too. I personally use white lithium grease for all. Don’t forget the inside and exterior door handles too. You will be surprised at how easy the doors open after this.

Thanks for the tip! I will grab some tomorrow!
