Retro sound issues.

Last year i bought the “model2” Retro sound car stereo from WCCC.

Just before xmas i had it installed by the local reputable auto electrical Co.
A bit of a marathon by all accounts putting speakers in the door etc etc.

Every thing is ok so far, except the radio !

I seam to have a random static coming thru the speakers.
I can play back tunes on my iPhone ok, so its not the speakers.
The static is likened to that for a radio isn’t quite on the station properly, but its electronic tuning so its either on it or its not.?
Its not engine related because the static is not linked to engine speed, and it often does it with the engine off.
Obviously not speed related so i’m stumped ?
So far i’m out of pocket over a grand or so, so i would like to head in the right direction before i shell out more.
I took it back to the sparky, he said its probably low quality tuner, i told him what it cost ($380 usd) and thats not a cheap tuner?
He suggested i come back and they would try a new areal ?

Does any of you folks have experience with this problem or do i go and buy a new areal and skin mu knuckles putting it in hopping its a fix ?

I’ve never seen a radio antenna go bad, unless it was snapped off, but maybe it happens?

If it’s making weird scratchy sounds, my first thought is bad ground/speaker wires/power lead dragging on bare metal and shorting. I would go over the wiring job and double check that first!

Replace the voltage regulator radio capacitor? I’m not sure if they are needed these days but their original use was to suppress noise, so maybe?

Would i need to remove the fender to replace the antenna ?

You should not have to. You can reach your hand in between the fender and cowl with the door open and touch the antenna cable.
