New to the forum so please forgive me for any posting errors.
Picked up a 69 cougar last year that has a fairly good restoration job. Never did ask the guy if he had replaced the leaf springs and coils and I’m wondering about the ride height. Seems to sit a bit low to me and the ride is a little spongy.
So my questions are; is there a way to check ride height and what would be the stock metric tire size?
First off let me say welcome to the Classic Cougar Community. It’s always great to have another new member. Now about the ride height of your Cougar. I would first say to change your shocks because you said your ride was spongy. That should be fairly easy. Shocks can wear and give a poor ride. As far as springs and ride height that can depend on many things in my opinion. Is the ground level, full tank of fuel, tire size, spare tire and other weight in trunk. Now this is just some of the things that come to mind to take into account. Maybe someone with a 69/70 can give measurements. Hope this helps some.

Thanks for the reply Steven; all good information. Shocks are new and the car doesn’t bounce up and down as your going down the road. It seems to sink into adips rather than ride over it them.
This morning i went out to the garage and measued from the center wheel up to the body line of the fender flare. My cougar measures just under 14.5 inches.
May be time for a new set of springs, don’t want it to look like a 4X4 but a little higher would be nice. I’m also considering going to a 15" wheel; any
suggestions on where to pick up a set of Magnum 500s?
