Roche-Mayberry License Plate Frame Wanted

I am looking for Roche-Mayberry Lincoln Mercury in North Hollywood California License Plate Frames. My 1969 XR7 was originally purchased at the dealership. Any leads would be great.

Ill take one also! My 1969 base coupe came from the same dealership in November of 69. It was grandma’s grocery getter.

Small world. Mine finally sold in January of 1970. Older woman in Santa Monica. Sounds like a cliche.
There is a thread from a few years ago discussing these frames and I saw one that Don Rush showed in his collection. I sent him a message but never heard back. It may have been the thread was just too old.

I was just wondering if you found your license plate that you were looking for

Nope not yet

I finally found a set on Ebay. Expensive but in great condition.

$300 bucks, ill have to check my 401K…

Plus it only says “Mayberry”. Here are some bad pictures of mine.

Grease Pit Graphics will make you a custom replica frame.

I got a set of two for $110. The rear looks new. The front has some road rash.

Check ebay #197499194080 for a pair of Roche frames. It is not my listing and I do not know anything more about them then what the listing says. The seller claims that they are from 1963 so perhaps they are too early for a Cougar.

What other prominent West Coast Ford dealers were there??? I’m pretty sure mine is a West Coast car. Would like something out of the ordinary. I know I could look on my marti report. But just curious

If you know, you know…

I have a frame from Van Nuys Motors on the back of my Cougar.

Your Cougar sold through Bountiful Motor Sales in Utah. That’s defintely unique, but won’t be an easy find! Looks like the location is now a truck leasing company.

Looked. Found nothing. Not even a picture of the dealer back in the day. Granted I didn’t look long. But maybe I’ll just fake one up.

Try looking into the town/city where the car was originally sold. See if they have a local historical society. If so contact them to see if they would have any information to share. If you are on facebook look to see if there is a facebook page for that town/city. If there is a page try posting a request for information.

Keep in mind that not all dealerships offered license plate frames. Here in PA where I am not many dealerships even offered them due to legal issues. If your car had a license plate frame on it here in PA your car would not pass the state inspection process as the frame obscured part of the plate and the registration sticker. And if you just took the frame off for the inspection process and then put it back on you could still be pulled over by the police and issued a ticket.

Thanks for that. I just may fake one up from my hometown Ford dealership from back in the day.
