Rust at C-Pillar

Hey all,

So I started stripping the paint (…and filler) away from my 1969. Not that anything I’m finding is completely surprising, but I do wish it were a little better under the bondo I’m grinding away…

That being said I’ve got some rust behind the rear window on the C-pillar and some by the lowest part of the back of the C-pillar. The rear windshield frame has been pieced together in the past and I plan on re-doing that but what is the best way to handle the rust in the aforementioned two spots?

Thanks for the help!

Pictures rotated CCW 90 degrees for some reason, sorry.
Edited: Realized it’s still considered a “C-pillar” even though there is no “B” haha

I would finish stripping all the paint so you can see the total extent of the rust. Then you can figure out what you will need to do to repair it. It may end up that the best way would be to replace the complete roof. Or you might be able to just get away with repairing some sections.

Thanks for the reply. I’m thinking at this point I should be able to get away with just spot repairs. The rest of the roof looks pretty good. I’d still keep my eyes open for either a roof or quarters with those sections that I could cut out and patch with. It’s going to be a long road…
