Rust in cylinder walls.

The hertz g project, has rust in the upper part of some of the cylinder walls. What would be the best way to the rust.

Thanks Scott

You can use Evaporust. Then check for taper using a dial bore gage. Any pitting = need to have the block honed. At the very least you need rings and rods resized / rebushed and cylinder heads rebuilt.

Should have said honed or bored.

Royce’s way is absolutely correct but for what it’s worth I had a 390 in a F100 that had the same issue but I wasn’t ready to put the time and money In it. I sanded off the rust cleaned the cylinder the best i could oiled the cylinders turned the crank back and forth a little at a time until It would go around ok, had some loose valve guides so I put on some new valve seals top end gaskets , , it ran like a champ. Now I didn’t have deep gouges just smooth rust and I wasn’t drag racing it just driving it.
