Rust repair on nose of hood

I have 67 std small block 4spd and have had it since 76. i have had it in covered parking and am just starting my restoration. it has been off the road since 82 and only has 62k miles. my question is i have a major rust spot on nose of hood and also rust through under battery area. can I weld in a patch on these areas.

You will likely find additional rust once you remove the trim on either side of the nose of the hood. IMO you’d be better off sourcing a Dynacorn aftermarket hood or a good used one. Should be able to find patch panels for battery area as well. Some good DIY threads here on major metal repair projects.

If you have the tools, give it a go! It’s only metal. Ever watch Fitzee fabrication on YouTube? Lots of tips!

The battery area inner fender has long been reproduced. It is common to 1965 - 1968 Mustangs as well. If you are planning to replace it the easiest option would be to replace the entire piece. Drill out the spot welds and then plug weld the new part into place.
