Scott Drake Legendary Wheels

Has anyone purchased and installed a set of Scott Drake Legendary Wheels? If so please share your review or a picture of them on your Cougar. I have been checking the WCCC site but there have been no reviews.
Thank you, Jim R

I had a set of 16" on my '69 XR7. They looked great and it was nice not having to deal with spacers. I did not have them for very long however, as I sold that car to finance the purchase of my '67 GT. The Legendary Wheels stayed with the XR7 to increase its value. The plan is to someday buy a set of 17" LW rims that will fit on the GT. In other words, I would definitely buy another set.

If you go with these rims, you must be uber-careful with the centre caps. They are not of the best quality construction and the backing plates break very easily when installing. I had to return several before I finally got all four mounted.

Just realized that I should have been clear that the poor quality centre caps I had did not come from WCCC.

They seem nice. Don has a set of the Argent version of that wheel on his car. There are some advantages - lighter weight, near perfect balance out of the box, etc. Several other styles to choose from too.

We also had a set of these GT5 wheels mounted, they are really cool too. Similar to the others but with recesses in the spokes.

Another option is these Magstar II wheels, which we installed on a '69 convertible.

And then there’s the fancy GT6 wheel with black accents or silver accents. Here are a couple examples:

I think that’s all the ones we’ve actually installed on cars, but there are several other varieties of the Legendary wheels. Check out more of them here. They seem like nice wheels to me and the styles are cool. The hard part is choosing which one.

One word of caution, many of them use special lug nuts, so make sure you order those along with the wheels (they are linked in the descriptions). They all come with plastic clip-on center caps, but there are metal ones available for some of them. We made up our own black walking cat decals to cover the Legendary Wheels logo on the included plastic center caps - if you order from WCCC, write a note in the comments box asking for the decals and we’ll include them for free.

Anthem75 and Andrew thanks for the feedback on the Legendary Wheels. Andrew you must be a mind reader as I was torn between the “Flat Five” styled wheel reproduction or the GT5 style. I appreciate all the photo examples you posted. After seeing the photos I’m going with the black “Flat Five” version. Do you have any sales coming up?
Thank you, Jim R

I have had a set of Legendary Wheels on my Cougar for several years. Been real happy with ride and handling of car with them. I have Legendary Wheel Cougar caps on them and you do need to be very careful tightening them or you pull the spot welds. I popped a couple and did patch with epoxy. They also require Legendary Lug nuts which take a thin wall socket so I carry one on a breaker bar in the car. At shows I get quite a few comments on the wheels. I don’t regret getting them.

Mr 580 thanks for the reply. You have a great looking Cougar.

Here’s a link to the decals we made for the plastic Legendary caps.

I really like the flat 5 wheel for the cougar, does anyone know if it will be made in a 17inch wheel?

I remember your Cougar from Carlisle last year, those wheels do look really sharp in person.
