Wow really bad time slot. Someone got a great car.

Can’t wait to hear all about it Gavin!

I got pretty close with the buyer’s premium. That really looks like a nice car. That drivetrain setup is really close to what I’d like to do to mine eventually. Congrats on the bid, Catlover.

What a sweet ride. Grats to Catlover, AND the lucky buyer. =)

Congrats Catlover. :beerchug:

I’ve been recording the auction all week so I could go back and watch the excitement. I was unable to find this one last night. I saw a lot of Big Block Vetts, Z-28s and Hemis. But not this…

I don’t think they were broadcasting yet when this went over the block. It was before noon and I didn’t see any of the cameras moving that early.

Now that the auction is over, I thought I would take this opportunity to thank everyone here for taking so much interest in the car. It was truly overwhelming for me.

It was a very difficult decision to part with the car after owning it for so long, and the many phases it went through over the years. I found that I just wasn’t driving it much anymore, and rather than just hang onto it for sentimental reasons, wanted to pass it along to someone that would truly enjoy our creation.

The Barrett Jackson experience was overwhelming as well, a once in a lifetime one that I will never forget. It was great to meet some of the members from the Community that made the trip to Scottsdale, really nice guys!

Again, many thanks to everyone here for all of the kind words, it is truly appreciated.

Malcolm

PS. The auction was won by a telephone bidder. I would love to be able to be in touch with the new owner if they so choose. I can be reached by PM here or phone 604 999 2427.

Thanks for checking in! Glad you enjoyed the experience, we all would have liked to see it go for $65k or more but the good news is this is a hobby not an occupation or investment for you so its all good! I will let you know if the new owner darkens my door.

I am the telephone bidder. I agree the Barrett Jackson experience is overwhelming, even by phone. I wish I could have been there in person. I have never bought a car at auction before and it is really difficult to follow the action by phone. I struggled to follow whether the number being shouted out to me was the current bid or the next asking bid. Fortunately, I prevailed. Overall it was very exciting.

I watched this car when it was first offered for sale several years ago. I thought it was amazing and wanted it. At that time I had recently resigned my position and was establishing my own business. I was not in a position to purchase the car then. When I saw it for sale at Barrett Jackson, I was determined not to miss it a second time.

I loved following all the interest in the car from the forum. The enthusiasm this car generates is remarkable. I am happy to be a part of its story, and look forward to sharing it and driving it regularly.

Malcolm, Yes, I would very much like to connect with you to learn more about your car. I will call you.

Congratulations, Cougar Brian! You got yourself a great car at a fantastic price.

Nice ending… Best Fantasy Bid Contest ever! Thank you Rob for sponsoring it. The next time I see this car for sale I will be determined not to miss it a second time.

Brian, any chance we’re going to see this car at Carlisle or at the Allentown, PA show? I’d love to see it and I imagine everyone else would, too.

My goal is to attend both Carlisle and Allentown this year. Hopefully Carlisle with the convertible and Allentown with the GTE.
