Scottsdale Auction Week 2023 - Fantasy Bid

Happy New Year! It’s time for the annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Cougar Fantasy Bid. But, what the heck, no Cougars up for auction at BJ as of today’s date. Mecum Kissimmee, though has a number of nice looking Cats, including my selection for this year’s fantasy bid - Dyno Don’s Super Cat.

Lot F153

Lot T205.1

Lot T163

Lot S58

Lot W20

Lot L154

Lot L185

Lot G152

Place your bid…

I’ll award your choice of a $50 WCCC credit or donation to this site in your name to the person who fantasy bids closest on Mecum Lot F153 – 1969 Dyno Don Super Cat.

Eligible bids need to be posted here before the car gets on stage. Only one entry per person. Use the “hammer” price before commissions. Closest can be over or under, but under wins in the event of a tie. You can edit your bid, so long as you do it before the car hits the stage. Looks like it will cross the block on Friday, January 13 in the afternoon. If someone has a better estimate, let us know. Void where prohibited. Judge’s ruling is final. Your mileage may vary.

I bid $285,428

Ill give it a go at $212,700 Also I’ll match the $50 if I win and donate it to all to this site.

There are a few Cougars now listed at Barrett-Jackson, but this contest will stick with the Mecum auction of the Super Cat.
It occurs to me that Mecum has reserves, so new rule for this year - “Hammer Price” includes highest bid before auctioneer announces that reserve not met and ‘the bid goes on.’

Very cool car. I’ll bid $78,000 and I hope it goes for more!!

$165,500

I was tempted to bid $1… until I read over bids count.

$50k and I have no idea why I am going that high…. Wait! This isn’t for the 92 Bostonian….:rofl:

So for the dyno Don super cat $87,600.

Will also match and donate…

$235,750

I will guess $166,000

Another car was added to the line-up after I made the original post (or I missed it the first time). Lot W126 -1970 XR-7 convertible. It hammered at $25k.

Other completed auctions have been hammered as follows:

Lot G152 - 1992 Bostonian - $6k - reserve not met
Lot L185 - 1973 XR-7 Convertible (blue) - $28k - reserve not met
Lot L154 - 1973 XR-7 Convertible (black) - $15k
Lot W20 - 1970 XR-7 Convertible restomod - $25k
Lot L163 - 1969 XR-7 CJ Convert (f/k/a “Esmerelda”) - $80k
Lot T205.1 1969 XR-7 Convertible 351 w/ ram air - $65k

Get your fantasy bid in soon for the Super Cat

F153 Super Cat was bid to $150,000 where the reserve was not met. Auctioneer stated we’re on the wrong side of 2, which would imply a reserve in excess of $200,000.

Looks like Sozen is the winner… check your PM.

Sozen chose to donate the prize to the forum. It’s been awhile since I paid my thanks too.

Bill @xr7g428 or @jays can you set up the donate button or PM me paypal instructions?

Thanks!
I will talk to Jay tomorrow and get something set up.
