seal on top of radiator support

I am replacing the seal on top of the radiator support. Are the any sugestions or tips for bending the staples. So far a real pain. I have the radiator in place but do have a little movement. Thanks

I used the Staples that come with the window weatherstrip kit (69). They worked fine and we’re exact fit for the staples and seal on top of the radiator support. I did drill the old staple holes out so that the new staple would fit through easily.

To bend those staples I used a needle nose pliers underneath to slightly bend the Staples while holding the top with a pair of pliers to keep it from moving. Once I got a slight bend in the direction that I wanted them to bend I used a vice grip and squeezed them closed the rest of the way. It worked out great for me and they are tight.

I used a typical vice grip. I put the lower vice grip jaw on the top of the staple and the upper vice grip jaw on the two partially bent staple studs. Then I just squeezed it together.

I did the same but had the radiator out when I did it. Not sure if the channel lock pliers would clear with the radiator in place.
