Is anyone going to the Shelby’s 50th Anniversary in Las Vegas on March 14-17? Is anyone taking any Trans Am Cougars to the show? I realize this may not be the best place to ask since Shelby didn’t make a Cougar but it still sounds like a good time. My Dad and I are kicking the idea around of going. Shelby will be 89 this year so we figure we better go before too much more time passes.
Hmmmm, that could be fun. If I remember correctly, Dan, a friend of mine (that I’ve conversed with for 8-10 and finally met in person last month) might be going to Vegas for the “track” portion of that event. He’s a SAAC “Technical Judge”; and likes to work in the… (Would “Show and Go” be a good term?) events. I’m guessing that, since it’s a replica, his Factory Five Roadster is going to stay home.
Y’know, with all the bogus propanganda about “Ol’ $hel” having a hand in design/production of one of the niche Cougars, I’d expect that the SAAC brethren might want a few E-Cats -or whatever model purportedly had his input- to show up. So there’s any Cougar-phile’s excuse
Local guys…Wes and Edd Oster are driving Wes’s 56 F-100 to Los Angeles to meet up with some other Shelby guys then they are driving to Vegas for the main event…They are retired and have all the time in the world to go on fun trips like that.
My dad and I are still apart of the “common working folk”. We are flying out Wednesday at noon then returning Sunday at 9:30am. Quick trip, but it will be fun. We will have to come back to work to recover and sleep when we are dead!! Sleep is over-rated for these types of trips!
I read on the Team Shelby web site that only Shelbys, Mustangs and Cobras are invited this year. I’d guess It would be OK to bring a classic Ford track car, but I’ll be bringing my 1966 GT350 instead of the Cougar Trans Am Race Car or Falcon Trans Am Race Car. I’ll be there on behalf of the Los Angeles Shelby American Auto Club offering driver coaching to new participants.
