Got her home today with no major problems except a pesky left rear brake that tried to lock up… Now to go through the process of getting it ready to start . Want to get it under it’s own power before putting her in the basement garage…
Nice looking Cat! Looks to be in good shape considering how long its been sitting. As you said before, looks like a two tone. How long has it been since it has been started?
Chris
Thanks Chris. Almost 6 years since last started according to PO. Got a bit to do before trying to fire her up again…
Great looking Cougar and im sure you will have fun bringing her back to life - congratulations on the purchase - look forward to the updates. Kind Regards, Russell.
Looks like a great project!!
Looks solid and now its running. Are those the original front seats? I did not know head rests were available in a 67.
Don’t know for sure OW. Everything else appears to be original, but as you and others have stated, headrests not available in '67. I’m guessing at some point '68 seats may have been put in? Wear/tear on these are pretty much consistent with the rest of the car so who knows…
Is there a possibility that this is a late '67 and they ran out so had to use '68 seats?
I don’t think so Grr8… Sequential Number is 13209.
It was a thought…
I like the two tone combination. What is your plan for the car? Will it be a full restoration?
Steven
Steven-
I’m afraid I have neither the funds or the talent to do a full on restoration. On top of that I have always been an “I want it the way I want it” guy instead of a purist original type. I have always said it would not do for me to have a really rare cat because of that. This is my second two tone (the other was a '70 a while back) and they generally aren’t really my cup of tea. Having said that, I sanded some of the rust on the roof the other day, and sprayed some white primer afterwards. The more I look at it, the more I like it, especially with the Wimbledon White 'stang wheels on it. I snapped a couple of pics tonight when I came home from work. For now, I just want to get all the mechanical things, floor pans, rust, and such right then go from there. It actually still has the snorkel, heat tube going to the carb, and radiator overflow bag on it, and maybe it’s just me getting older, but I kinda find them as neat items, so… who knows? I have a couple of boxes (small) with various parts I still need to go through, so hard to tell what else I might find. I have no time frame for anything. I still have a very busy schedule and will have to squeeze a little ‘therapy’ time in here and there, but want to be able to just take it for a drive now and then as I work on her. The Mrs. actually likes this one, (she only likes the '67-'68’s) and has already said that which ever one of us goes first the other one gets it, so I might actually have a little more discretionary funds and time for it!! LOL!! We’ll see where the story goes as it unfolds I guess…
Thanks
Chuck
PS: She has air shocks and the driver side does not hold air so she sits a little low on that side.
