Trying to figure out why my Side markers and tail lights and dash lights not turning off when i turn off the car. Recently replaced the Voltage regulator and the board on the back side of the cluster. The car is a 1969 Cougar XR7.

Grounds. It’s ALWAYS grounds. Check at the bulb, connectors, etc, etc…

Well, even if grounds were bad, there has to be some power going to those lamps. I suspect the headlight switch, which powers the running lights.

I am assuming when you say you turn off the car, that the key is out of the ignition.

Place a test light between the positive battery post and the terminal. Pull the fuses one at a time until the light goes out. That will tell you where to look.

Yes even when the key is out.

when you refer to the terminal i assume at the fuse block

The ignition key doesn’t control the lights. It sound like the headlight switch is pulled out one notch.

The battery post terminal. A test light between the two will cause the light to light when current is flowing. As you pull the fuses, the circuit that is causing your lights to stay on can be identified if it’s a feedback from something other than the headlight switch.(The headlight switch is not fused)
