I have a problem with the tube end that connects to the control valve on my small block Cougar. When the steering is full left the tube comes in contact with the pitman arm. I just replaced a hose I installed in April. There was a clear indentation on the tubing from contact and it failed from a stress crack at the 90 degree curve that is right below the contact point. I just finished installing a new one and the same thing is occurring. I have the shop manual but there is no clear image of the correct routing to attach it to the valve. Does anyone have a clear photo that shows the correct way to install this end of the hose? Currently it comes under the pitman arm then rises to connect to the control valve.
The generic hoses available at the parts houses are not bent right and donāt fit. These do: https://bluedotspecialties.com/
Thanks Royce, but I donāt see the hose I need listed on their site.

This has the picture to helpā¦
Just a thought. Are you using an adapter at the valve for this hose? The early (67) valves have a smaller port. Sometimes a brass adapter is used causing this hose to be too long & it then hit the armā¦
You have to convert to the āBig Blockā style which means you have to add the bracket below the frame and the rubber support.
Those must be the big block hoses as the tube configuration is different than mine.
Yes, as Royce says really the only way to replace hoses.
No adapter.
This also happened to my small block ā68XR7
I got a new one from Johnās Cougars & it seems to be ok.
