Replaced,
Turn Signal Switch, K5, K6, K7, K10, (K8-9,)
Brake lights activate with Headlight, or Turn Signal operation. I disconnected brake switch, and it still activates. Brake switch activates brake lights when lights or signal is off.
Dash lights come on when hazard is operating.
Initial problem, no right turn signal, no front signal.
I don’t know what happened. I left the car alone for 2years. Everything was perfect when I stored it and built a motor to replace.
I did do an upgrade to alternator and removed the voltage regulator from the other system.
Runs LED in rear.
Any clue as to what in the world I need to do to get this back right? The spaghetti of a lighting operation is madness
Do you have the '67 shop manual ? You need it for the wiring diagrams. Probably a magnifing glass to read the wire numbers and color codes. It’s a painful and tedious thing to do but you’ll have to trace out the wiring to find your problems. The Osborne electrical manual has the wiring diagrams also. Good luck and keep us updated. Get the '67 service manual !
I am no expert, but my limited experience has shown me that when I get one thing electrical causing another to work its almost always ground related. for instance the headlights activating the brake lights, its because the brake lights are acting as a ground. it could be just a bad ground or a a couple bare wires, but I would check all the grounds and make sure they are there and clean.
I’ve been racking my brain on it for about a week and a half and I believe I’m going to start in the trunk. That’s because it’s the only area where I’ve rattled wires and the initial pass side turn signal was out. The front turns didn’t work either. All of that is good now, but my dash lights come on with the turn signals, the brake lights activate. It’s very aggravating and confusing, also, the dash lights activate when I shift the gear selector.
I don’t know what I did, but it makes me feel stupid.
West Coast Classic Cougar has an electrical guy who is retiring in a few weeks. He works Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30-2 PST. You might give him a call after you have checked all the basics, but his last day is Dec 19th I think he said. Call 503-463-1130 and ask for Richard! Good luck on your project!
