I’m never really sure which category to put some of these questions in. Pictured is original foam from a heater box, but it’s used in various other places as well. I haven’t had any luck trying to source it anywhere. You would think a craft store like Michael’s would be the place but they don’t have anything close. And the problem with an internet search is you can’t really just call it foam. It returns 10,000+ pages.
If you have a link where I can find it that would be great.
The kit I used in 2007/2008 for our 67 ac car had multiple gaskets or foam sheet.i used most of thr fixed gaskets but replaced all the door foam or seals with quality stuff from mcmaster carr. The foam in our heater looked better in places than the replacement kit foam. I have no idea who’s kit or where I got it….maybe mustang plus who are long gone. It makes no difference any way, you want to use the best material you can find so you don’t have to do this again
I rebuilt my 69 heater box last winter following the WCCC video and their seal kit. My car still had the original insulation pads under the cowl and behind the dash that were pretty nasty and falling apart, so I tore all of that out and replaced it with Dynaliner. It’s peel and stick acoustic foam. Heat Protection and Thermal Insulation For Your Car | Dynaliner | Dynamat
I also recommend McMaster Carr as a source for hard-to-find stuff, including foam.
Having a 69 with A/C, I had to tear out the dash to get to the heater box. Luckily having a convertible, it was easier tearing out the dash than with a hardtop. Since I had to tear the dash out, I used the opportunity to do the extra insulation work, fix a couple electrical gremlins and a couple other under-dash things.
