Spare Tire with Restoraion

As part of my 70 restoration I upgraded the wheels to Magnums. What do you guys like for a spare? Should I get a good 5th wheel and tire or a plain old spare? I can’t imagine the checkered tire cover and hardware will even accommodate a Magnum. Thoughts? And pics if anyone has a nice trunk

If the factory sold you an optional set of wheels they came in a set of 5 all the same size.

I would put in a spare magnum, in case you do come across a flat you got a matching one and it doesnt look off driving down the road with a stock steelie.

thanks

If you want trunk space, modern spares are handy and functional. Obviously not for a restoration. This was from pick a part

Thanks guys!

*80s temp 15in spare. I think v8 mustang or birds. Note the spin finish on thecenter…aluminum 15in wheel. Note valve stem hole. I used a larger tire dia but the whole combo is under 20 lbs

I have several spare tires I have used depending on what I’m doing with the car. When I drove the 70 XR-7 out to Dearborn I had one like EliminatorClone has. At this time I have a space saver tire on a Cougar Styled steel wheel in the trunk. But that will never get aired up. I also have a B.F.G. 225/60-15 on a Cougar Styled steel wheel for use in the trunk of the 71 XR-7.
