Special Valve Cover Decals

I have:

I want the same thing but the “351” needs to be “408”.

Who’s “the man with the plan”? Anyone have the capability or know of where to get such a thing made?

For me, it’s all in the details, I needs me some decals for my newest project!

Thanks,

Bob

interested in this as well!

Spoke to the people at Jon Kaase (who uses “Boss 521”, etc. decals). Jim Osborn Reproductions makes them for him. However, everything Jim does is Ford licensed, so would be retarded expensive to do. The only reason Jon Kaase could do it was because the the relationship HE has with Ford. However, Jim’s guy said to go to a local screen printer and have them make something up for me and that I could do this - as long as I was not selling them - without angering the Ford licensing gods.

Given that I did the glass etching stencils for my glass, I think I can handle making the image for a printer to work from. We shall see…

, that was going to be my suggestion, print/sign type shop should be able to do that for you, easy breezy.

What is the size of the decal? The total size of the Ford oval and the size of the Clevand font and the 351. Let me know and I can play around whith our sign machine and see what I can come up with. Our sign machine dosen’t screen print, the gray area would have to have the blue areas overlayed. I did this for the XR7G center caps I made.

Hi Steven and thanks! The total size is 4 3/8" x 1 5/16" and the material is paper thin (or thinner) brushed aluminum mylar or polyester (what the Osborn guy told me). The Ford oval is 1" x 3/8". The blue block it is in is 31/32" x 1 7/16". The 351 height is 17/32". The CLEVELAND height is 1/4".

One word of caution, I don’t know what sort of material you use with that machine (but I have a hunch!), the guy at Osborn warned against the use of vinyl as it will get all messed up when exposed to engine heat.

I had the thought of printing on thin clear material (of the right type), the brushed aluminum is not really necessary when they (in my case) go on polished aluminum covers.

Let me know what you come up with!

Thanks again and regards,

Bob

You can also contact Dan Baker at http://alumicraft.com/ He has done work for PowerblockTV.

Steven,

Please note that I updated the width of the sticker. Apparently the one I had in my junk I had shortened a little to fit an aluminum plate, I was experimenting with making a raised badge to go into the recess on the top of the covers at the time.

About Alumicraft, this I assume would be more for a raised emblem (like the “Cougar” or “Mercury” emblems on our cat for instance)? Did not see anything on the site that led me to believe they would make decals.

Thanks,

Bob

This looks promising: http://www.myassettag.com/blank-brushed-matte-polyester-address-labels-sheet/sku-LZR-AT-BRUSH-D

IF it can be found in the right size or a 8.5" x 11" unbroken (uncut) sheet.

I’m sure Isabel has collected her fair share of dash plaques from all the car shows she has attended. I’ve notice these dash plaques are made out of metal with custom graphics and print on them. I’m sure the outfits that create these one off dash plaques should be able to create this for you and to the dimensions desired. Just throwing that idea out there.

Cheers,

Bob sorry it took so long to get back to you. Yes we use vinyl so that might not be the best option. The other idea I would recommend is having a rubber stamp made and using permenant ink. I have done this with great success stamping our City logo thin plastic fire extinguisher labels. The third option is the laser get labels that you posted. We just printed some City logos last week to put on hard hats for the City Construction crews. The laser jet label is made by Avery. I’m not sure how it would hold up to heat but they can be very cost effective. I had a local print shop make our rubber stamp for about $20. Hope this helps.
