Sandy is going to be bearing down on us here in NJ and in the NE in general. We were lucky enough to get our boat hauled yesterday, now just hope it doesn’t float off its blocks with the major storm surge forecasted! Decided to put the bilge plug in and drop the anchor so that it will float and not float away in the worst case. It will batter against other things though I’m afraid.
Generator and transfer switch (installed that after Irene last year) is at the ready!
This may be an opportunity for you to pick up that next project Bob. Who knows what treasures will be left under water this time around. Check with DMV and see if “Sandy” is already taken.
Stay safe, Bob! By sheer coincidence I’d already planned tomorrow as a day off, so I don’t need to worry about the commute but Tuesday morning will be interested. I also did a test run on the generator a couple of weeks ago, so we’re ready. And this time the Cougars are inside a steel frame building with no trees around it.
No worries here for Isabel, she’s resting comfortably on the lift in the garage and our home is well above sea level. All preparations have been made and the rest is in God’s hands. Hope my wife will be okay, she works at a hospital one block off the beach and always has to go into work during these sort of events.
So far not bad, but a long way to go. Sounds like storm surge is going to be the big issue with Sandy. Worse near NYC, but significantly higher here too than we had with Irene. I plan on going to the marina sometime today to see how our boat is faring. High tide this evening is going to be interesting.
