I have a 1967 Cougar project car, my steering gear box had to much play so I ordered a rebuild from West coast cougar. My question is when I installed the gear box and tried to align it up with the pitman arm I could not get the gears to move. When I tried to move it in the opposite direction it moved. Now is there a center point in the gear box if so how do I find it.
Jim
I have a 68 with power steering and the center is a little less than two full turns from the stop on the input side of the steering box, meaning when I have the steering centered I can turn the wheel a little less than two full rotations in either direction.
Go all the way one way then all the way the other way then half way back.
