Second, this is one of those situations where a picture truly is worth a thousand words, as I believe there was more than one sort of steering wheel available in the '73 XR-7, and “help” could mean any number of things.
That is the common rimblow steering wheel. Ford used them from 1970-74. We are waiting for the new reproduction at WCCC.
Trivia, the ‘other’ optional steering wheel would have been a two spoke leather wrapped steering wheel.
I can tell you from experience, it’s tedious. This will give you a general idea of the techniques involved, although off-the-shelf chrome stripe tape is much simpler than the method they show for finishing the outside groove.
