Technically the ones in the second picture are correct. The original struts had two metal sleeves that slid into each other. Most of the time they are stuck to the large washers and difficult to remove. The rubber bushings will come off the sleeves with a little persuasion!
The top ones are Moog replacement. A much better replacement than the others. The Moog ones fit snugly into the housing. If the non- Moog ones were ever used they most likely have destroyed the small steel sleeve inside the housing. Then if the Moog ones are used they can move around. I solve this problem with—
Tip of the week!
Sink tail pieces.
Go to the hardware store and buy 2 non-plastic sink tail pieces. Cut the flared end off at about 3/4" This will then fit snuggly into the housings holes and the Moog strut rod bushings then fits inside the tail piece.
To remove old ones just pry until the washer & sleeve come out. Check fit of new Moog ones. Install, align, and drive!
In all the years doing front end rebuilds (over 100+) Moog is the only front suspension parts I use.
