Stubborn Armrest Plugs

Seems like it should be a simple task, but I guess taking apart 50 year old cars is never easy. These are original plugs holding in grade A perfect armrests that I don’t want to damage. None of my assorted trim tools seem to fit properly on these to remove them. If anyone has a picture of the right tool or a tip to removing them I would certainly appreciate it.

I have had a lot of those over the years. I have a small flat blade screwdriver that I slide down in between the plug and the armrest and then just sort of walk it the whole way around the plug. That loosens the bond that has happened between the plug and the armrest. The plug can then be removed. Taking my time I have never damaged a plug or armrest doing it that way.
