I finally found a mint condition Lincoln Mercury stuffed promotion cat! The Cougar was such a success, Lincoln Mercury adopted their “At the sign of the cat” slogan. I remember the big Cougars laying on top of the Lincoln Mercury signs back in the day.
Anybody remember the time frame that these stuffed Cougars were available from the Lincoln Mercury dealers? Were they purchased, or maybe given away with a test drive?

Here is an article about them that came out many moons ago.

Thanks for sharing! So I guess I have a kitten. Hmm, now I need the Momma too
There are multiple variations and sizes of these stuffed cats that came out over the years. A lot of them were issued in the mid 1970s, think of the time when Farrah was the spokesmodel for Cougar. Some of them will be dated on the tag. Some have a ribbon around their neck with a date. My thinking right now is that yours is from the mid 1970s as I do not recall that L-M was using the AT THE SIGN OF THE CAT slogan in 1967. I will have to dig mine out to see how it compares to yours.

If you go on the CCOA website and then choose COLLECTIBLES at the top and then choose DEALERSHIP ITEMS you will find several photos of some different stuffed cats and some of the original 1967 advertising for them.

Thanks Randy! Fun to look at those. Would be interesting to know when Mercury did start using “At the Sign of the Cat” slogan. I remember the cat on top of the dealer signs before we left LA in 1972.
