So, I realize that sitting, is the worst thing for any car…I installed a rebuilt C4 trans in my 67 XR7…And for some reason I keep losing all the trans fluid out of the rear out put seal…I believe it was a clean dry flat surface when I installed the seal.
I also believe I tapped it flat against the trans when I installed the new seal.
Am I missing something? Is it probably as likely caused from sitting still for months, or years at a time? Type “F” is getting harder to find off the shelf, and certainly not getting any cheaper!
Is your slip yoke worn? There usually isn’t too much problem with output shaft seals. When you say a clean drive flat surface, by chance do you mean the tail housing to case gasket? The only leak is at the tail seal?

No , and yes-there is some leaking around the pan gasket, but mostly it seems to have all leaked out around the yoke.
