Would like some help identifying some styled steel wheels I have. These were on my car when I purchased her back in 1980. The only markings I can see are as follows.
Inside on the spokes are a capital A and a circle with the number 7
On the rim are the following markings.
22 14x7 JJ A
2(has a circle) Made in U.S.A. (this is on 2 lines) MI 5(the 5 is below the MI) 887
They have black argent paint with silver. I also have the trim rings that go with them that are about 3 1/4 to 3 1/2 inches wide. There is no markings on the trim rings.
Are these original early cougar steel styled wheels or another magnum 500 type wheel?
Do they look like these? The chrome spoke ones are 68 Cougar the one painted Gray is for a 69. They all are close to the same. 67s have bigger holes and 69/70s were painted.
Note, picture shamelessly stolen from Dave Nashif’s Facebook page.
70s style Magnum 500. Get them blasted to remove all the rust and repaint them in Silver Argent and satin Black. You can get Cougar center caps that fit them.
I’ve got a set of those (from my dad’s old Granada) on my 68. I had them blasted and painted them charcoal grey metalic rustoleum. You can buy stencils to help paint the spokes silver if you want but I kinda like the monochromatic look. They make great looking wheels for very little $$$.
