sunroof motor

Can the “pancake” style sunroof motor be rebuilt?

You need to find someone that knows what they are doing, but yes they can.

I have a good used on Ebay if it’s the style you need.

actually fits 67 as well…

It would appear that each of the different sunroof motors employ unique gear drive mechanisms, correct?

So if one wanted to switch from the later, larger/cylindrical direct drive motor back to a pancake style you need the gears, etc.

I have one of the other style also on EBay.

Hey there John -

Why would the unit you listed above not work with an overhead console - too large/thick?

Seems thinner than the roundish metal ones.

In the picture that shows a motor labeld “Rusty Sunroof” the motor is at a 90 degree angle to the drive unit. Your drawing also shows the 90 degree relationship between the drive unit and motor. Those will work with an overhead console. The second listing I have on EBay has a motor that is straight out from the drive unit. This would interfere with the overhead console on a 67/68 XR7.

^^^ gotcha - great info, thanks!
