Sunroof

Before I put ‘foot in mouth’ were any GTEs delivered with the ASC sunroof, sold to the public?

There was 1 GTE delivered with a sunroof. It was Augusta Green with a black top. Last I knew, it was owned by one of the Huisman’s.

Hmmm - - Augusta Green w/black sunroof and maybe a 4-speed…???
Here, kitty kitty…

The GT-E with sunroof is a W code 427, so it has an automatic.

There were 2 XR7-G’s built with 428CJ and 4 speed / sunroof. Start saving your money.

Thanks guys I didn’t think there were any.

Does George or Hank still own the GTE with the sunroof?

In Jeff’s defense, there has been only 1 of 3 sunroof GT-Es “accounted for” – that is found. It is an R code Augusta Green, Standard Cougar, with a black vinyl top.
There are two still “missing” 1- R code XR-7, Madras blue with black vinyl top; and 2 - W code XR-7, Grecian Gold, with white vinyl top.
All three GT-E sunroof cars are automatics.

Thanks for the clarification, Jim. I completely forgot about the other two and only remembered the one I attempted to buy.

I call dibs on the madras blue GTE with sunroof. :stuck_out_tongue:

Holy crud - XR-7 GT-E with a sunroof.

“drool”…

The odds are improving!

No, the odds have always been the same and will stay that way – it is your “hope, dream, fantasy” that improving

If I originally thought there were none, now there are three. And yes hope, dream, fantasy plus completing the bucket list are always there. If dreaming about a GTE why not elevate it to the sunroof level.

There is a chance, unless Jim knows for sure that they have been destroyed.

Could they be gone forever? Yes, of course, but that’s why we keep the search open until we prove it one way or another. As the Registrar I know I’ll not live long enough (nor may anyone else for that matter) to know what the status of all 393 GT-Es. But all we can do is keep digging, so that is what we are doing. I try to track down each and every lead on a GT-E until such a time as I run out of any clues – in other words, a dead end. But I keep the records on all of the searches, so that in the future someone can pick up the pieces and go with it should new information come about.
