T5 Bell housing diameters?

I have a friend who is working on a mustang, (same guy who helped me swap motors) and he got a deal on a WC T5 trans.
I have three different Ford V8 bell housings, and none of them fit his T5. They were only a tiny bit too small, but still…
So I guess my question is, is there some difference in input shaft/ bearing retainers for the different model of T5?
Or are T5 bell housings different from earlier Ford trans housings? the difference is like 1/32 of an inch.

Any 82~3 -93 will work. When you get to 94 95 new body style, the bellhousing and t-5 trans input shaft are different.
Stay away from v-6 T-5s and 94 95 5.0 trans. WC t-5 are not much difference than normal t-5…only small internal changes.

Also, what do you mean “earlier trans”.

I was thinking in my head, that the SN 95 trans would be a different fit. I was also thinking of just a regular top loader. As I said, the diameter of the input bearing shaft is just off by a little bit. I was under the impression that any Ford V* bell would do, as the inside diameter of the bell would be constant, between a toploader and a T5. The more relevant differences would be the depth of the trans and which bell would actually fit an application.

Scott Drake makes a plate that to adapt a fox mustang T5 to a Toploader bellhousing.

I would find a used t-5 bellhousing, they are everywhere.
