Tachometer stuck

1968 Xr7, my tachometer does not return to 0 when I shut the car off. Seems it is stuck at 1400rpm.

It does however exceed 1400 rpm.

The price is pretty high I would check eBay.

The factory tachs have a D’Arsonal type movement. A wound coil rotates around a magnet inside an open housing. Sometimes dirt gets in that gap and mucks things up.
Try GENTLY blowing some compressed air through the center hole and see if that frees the needle.
