The Cougar Smile

In the horse world, when someone who has never ridden one of our breed, gets done with their first ride we call it The Paso (Fino) Smile.

Well, since it has been so long since I took the Cat out and it had rained non-stop all day long, I got cabin fever and just had to get out of the house.
I looked around and spied the key chain and remembered that the tank was almost empty. (I had been just starting her every other day just to keep everything lubed and charged.) I grabbed my hat and decided to take her down to the gas station on the corner. I put the key in, pumped the gas twice and she started right up. Opened the garage door, put her in 1st and eased on out and down to the end of the driveway. I opened the gate, cranked the steering wheel left and off I went.

It might not have been the smartest thing to do with one cam lobe burned down but she wasn’t popping very much at all and with both windows down the wind felt so fine.
I filled the tank and she restarted without an issue. The return trip felt just as nice.

Yeah, I had it, The Cougar Smile.

Glad to hear. I know exactly how you feel.

I’ve had it a couple of times as well:

When I rebuild the transmission and finally got it to shift through all the gears correctly.

Also when I stripped it down to bare metal and painted it all flat black primer and got all 4 hubcaps and the trim back on so it looked a lot better. The car is much more fun to drive around when I know it looks good and is running nice.

I can’t wait to see the 1" layer of dust on it when I get home and get to wash it. It will be like unveiling the car all over again.
