I have custom guages (Stewart Warner) on my 1969 Cougar Decor. I am going with a new, 3rd party wiring harness and need or want some suggestions on which vendor to go with. I bought an EZ Wiring 20 circuit harness but am not really able to read the stamping on each wire easily so am going to try a new set and wanted suggestions.
The aftermarket wiring harness will not solve the aftermarket gauge issue and is a poor choice for a Cougar. Really the solution is to just follow the instructions from the aftermarket gauge manufacturer.
Is there another manufacturer that might make it easier?
No, Just get your harness repaired you will be miles ahead. Look up Midlife he repaires them.
Thanks.
You might want to let us know what aftermarket gauges your planning to put in. If your replacing the factory interment cluster or just adding on more gauges.
The issue with Cougars and aftermarket wiring is that signature features like sequential turn signals aren’t factored in the “universal”wiring that are in these build a harness kits. Folks buy them thinking they have a plug and play harness only to find a basic template to build a harness with. So in the end to keep a Cougar a Cougar using the original harness then building from that is a better and easier choice (which others have suggested).
