This ought to be good!

I have still been checking out stuff there because there are still so many left there. Im also amazed at how many new people keep popping up.

And believe it or not, she supports the thread being closed! I would have never guessed it. She also said she is going to contact the companies sales rep to discuss “reading” the forum (as in what sort of forum it is) and if they had they would know that posting that sort of content would not be well received.

Still, the timeliness is not doing much (i.e. nothing) to help the membership be any happier about the way the forum is being run and where it is going.

Anyway, thought you all might be interested to know the “official” position on this.

(throwing soggy popcorn away and looking forlorn)

I didn’t look at the thread in question, but would have to assume that it being a “Model” contest, it had scantily clad women involved. The “sponsor” if you will, probably assumed "car guys(mainly) + scantily clad womens = clicks…can’t fault their logic. It is surprising that Helena thinks she’s going to be able to influence a paying sponsor…

C’mon, Bob, “renounce MC.net, declare CCCF allegiance, and you shall feel…no…pain…”(modified quote from one of my favorite movies).

Now where’s that little smilie with the stick…

Here you go:

BTW, Bill,

Can we shamelessly commandeer the smilies MCnet has for our own? I unintentionally figured out how to use them, but would rather have them “native”.

Is this not “Admin” helena’s Job??? :problem:

More Smileys ,… Please Bill???

This is something I was thinking about, sort of. I was only going to post an update to my ECI thread here and link to it on MCnet, but in the end posted in both places, to see what the differences in activity might be as the experiment instead. Linking to updates here would probably help bring people over. Not sure of the best way to accomplish it other than that thought. Something tells me the transition/slow death is going to be longer and slower than anyone would like it to be. I suspect that their join rate (of real Cougar people rather than the amazing amount of people that join and never seem to post) still is considerably higher than here.

I am sure Bill will know a lot/have a lot to say about the state of things and what might or might not be a good thing to “help things along”.

So personally I think this “dual existance” thing is going to go on for much longer than any of us would like it to, JMHO.

Already doing that… How long do you give me before I am banned?

Never, Don, since Helena doesn’t visit, Royce would applaud you, and Bob is “seeing the light”…

I will work on the smilies. We won’t go directly over there and lift their stuff, but I think that we can find just about anything you want.

MC.Net has been around for a long time, so search wise, they have a lot of indexed content that shows up on Google. This means that people new to Cougars are going to visit MC.Net for a long time to come. Time and more content here will balance things out in the long run. I think that if people get a chance to visit both sites that the thing will speak for itself.

This forum really belongs to the members here. I am just trying to be a good host and make this the kind of place that is fun to hang out and where every one feels comfortable. My concern is that I don’t want to generate a divide in the Cougar Community, where people feel like they need to pick sides. I see it this way: Starbucks didn’t have to put the competition out of business, they just had to do a better job of making the customer happy.

Given all of that, what people want from a forum are answers. Correct answers. This is where having a few more of the veterans on board can really make a difference. So if you know someone and want to invite them to give CCC.Com a look, I think that’s great.

… and a fantastic host you are Bill

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Seconded…

All in favor…?

Thanks guys… So you think it is time to start Christmas shopping yet? Is this too early?

Naaaah, you still have a good 48 hours before even THINKING about shopping…

Just wanted to say I like this sight also. I was one of the transported ones. The only complaint I have is not being able to download pics. Some file size error. I never had that before.

Aye!

I am liking this site more and more…looks like I will have to switch over too, those link words and ads are driving me nuts on what used to be my favorite site on the internet.
:boohoo:

Does anyone know how I can take my pictures that I uploaded into MC.net off and into something I can use here or elsewhere?

ClassyCat: I’ve not tried this on MC.net; but have gone to other webpages, right-clicked on a picture, hit “save” on the drop-down menu, and saved it to my pictures file. I did this a lot from my eldest daughter’s Facebook page, recovered some pictures lost when one of my computers died and I’d lost one of my flash drives full of those pics. Never did it with other people’s pics; I’m not sure, but there might be privacy/piracy issues there.

I also have a photobucket site, anything thing post on any Forum is in one of the “Public Pages” there. Lot’s of pages won’t let you upload big pictures; but you can link them back to the picture in your photobucket account.

Yep, the Dawg nailed it. Save then to your computer and then open up a free Photobucket account and upload them there and you will never pose them again.
