Anybody use, or have used, Thompson Perormance’s Powerblast plate? What’s the outcome? Nothing came up on search in here for it.
What type of plate? What’s it supposed to do?
I’m a little curious about this too
Found a couple reviews on the net; none negative, and found a video of a guy who didn’t want to spend the money and fashioned his own from a sheet of tin - he was impressed with the results. Gainsayers have said it’s just a cheat for poor carb tuning; appropriate sized pumps/nozzles will provide perfect performance. I may try the hack just to see, but I also know I need to do some run trials to verifying my current carb settings and rejet as necessary (it came from Montana 7,000ft, and now lives in Florida <300ft.
My AFR gauge doesn’t jump around as much during somewhat brisk acceleration pulls as it did before installing the plate. My car felt fine before, pulled very strong with no hiccups. It does seem to pull a little harder and smoother now, but it might just be my imagination. But the air/fuel ratio under acceleration is definitely less erratic according to my gauge. 1967 stock 289 with a Holley Street Warrior carb. Which worked great right out of the box, super happy with it, the open box ones directly from Holley are a great deal.
